About the How-To Library
What does the Fraser Roofing How-To Library cover?
Every part of a roof and the tools used to build one: asphalt shingles, metal and standing seam, torch-on, EPDM, TPO and PVC flat roofs, flashing details, valleys, chimneys, skylights, ventilation, tear-off and decking, fascia and soffit, repairs, specialty roofs, roofing tools and roof safety setup. Each guide gives the steps, the tools, the materials and the mistakes to avoid.
Are these guides written for homeowners or for roofers?
Both. Homeowners can use them to understand what a proper job looks like before they hire anyone, and to handle small repairs safely. Apprentices and handy owners get the full sequence a working crew follows. Every guide is marked Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Professional so you know what you are taking on.
Do the guides follow the BC Building Code?
They are written for Fraser Valley roofs and point to the BC Building Code and WorkSafeBC rules where they apply. Product installation instructions always come first, because they set the conditions of the manufacturer warranty. When a guide and the instructions printed on the bundle disagree, follow the instructions on the bundle.
When should I stop and call a roofer instead?
Any time the work needs fall protection you do not have, the deck feels soft, the leak source is not obvious, or the fix involves a torch. Each guide ends with a section on when to call a professional. Fraser Roofing does free roof inspections across the Fraser Valley, so asking costs nothing.
